La sculpture est la branche des arts visuels qui opère en trois dimensions. C'est l'un des arts plastiques. �The Palau G�ell (G�ell Palace) is a mansion designed by the architect Antoni Gaud� for the industrial tycoon Eusebi G�ell and built between 1886 and 1888. It is situated on the Carrer Nou de la Rambla, in the El Raval neighbourhood of the city of Barcelona in Catalonia, Spain. It is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site �Works of Antoni Gaud�. The home is centered around the main room for entertaining high society guests. Guests entered the home in horse-drawn carriages through the front iron gates, which featured a parabolic arch and intricate patterns of forged ironwork resembling seaweed and in some parts a horsewhip. Animals could be taken down a ramp and kept in the livery stable in the basement where the servants resided, while the guests went up the stairs to the receiving room. The ornate walls and ceilings of the receiving room disguised small viewing windows high on the walls where the owners of the home could view their guests from the upper floor and get a �sneak peek� before greeting them, in case they needed to adjust their attire accordingly. The main party room has a high ceiling with small holes near the top where lanterns were hung at night from the outside to give the appearance of a starlit sky.� (Palau G�ell, Wikipedia)

Designed in the Catalan modernista style by the architect Llu�s Dom�nech i Montaner, it was built between 1905 and 1908 for the Orfe� Catal�, a choral society founded in 1891 that was a leading force in the Catalan cultural movement that came to be known as the Renaixen�a (Catalan Rebirth). It was inaugurated February 9, 1908. The project was financed primarily by the society, but important financial contributions also were made by Barcelona's wealthy industrialists and bourgeoisie. This thoroughfare interconnects with smaller side streets of similar style, linking together the citys temples and major public buildings. At the middle of it there was Palmyras Triumphal Arch, or gate of Palmyra as it is known by the Syrian people. This Roman archway was one of the most beautiful of the many notable monuments in the ancient city, built in the third century CE by Septimius Severus. In the late summer of 2015, the arch, together with a number of other important structures on the site, was reduced to rubble by extremists who had occupied the ancient city since the spring. The Institute for Digital Archaeology was, at that time, in the early stages of a documentation and cultural heritage protection project in collaboration with the people of the region.
